AYLMER SCHOOLS IN LOCKDOWN”

Aylmer – Suspicious activity by two males in a Harvey Street backyard resulted in a ‘lockdown’ at Davenport Public School and EESS last Thursday, Sept. 24. According to Aylmer Deputy Police Chief Andre Reymer,  police responded to a neighbour’s concern around 12.45 pm who saw the males carrying a duffle bag in a yard. The caller then chased the males away. Police found a knife in the yard and spotted the suspects on Dufferin St., less than two blocks away. Police gave chase but the suspects split and couldn’t be initially re-located. Police called the schools and asked them to lock their perimeter doors for safekeeping. Both schools chose to implement a full ‘lockdown’  which they maintained for about an hour. Police did not find the suspects and still no arrests have been made. No property was stolen or damaged. Immanuel Christian School was not contacted as police determined it was ” not necessary.”
