EESS WINS FOOTBALL PLAYOFF DOUBLEHEADER FRIDAY (Contributed)

Aylmer – The Seniors won 11-3 against Parkside. Ian Barrie scored on Eagles first play from scrimmage, a 60 yard run. Brandon Aspden converted the extra point. Aspden also kicked a 30 yard field goal and had a punt of 55 yards for a single point. The defence stood tall with a goal line stance when Parkside had first down inside the Eagles five yard line. Big tackles made by Josh VanVelzer, Bud Laur, and Jordan Lomond. They play the Southeast final next Thurday at St. Joe’s HS.

The Juniors won against Parkside 17-14. Craig Irvine scored a TD with an 8 yard run and then caught a pass from QB Trevor Stewart for a 55 yard catch and run play. Kicker Aldo Rempel kicked a 25 yard field goal. Defensively, with time running out and the score 17-14 Eagles, Braydon Racz blocked a field goal attempt to seal the win. Eagles will now host St Joe’s next Thursday.

***AD*** – “Pass it on! – “…My brother didn’t deliver pamphlets this week, he was afraid to come outside. He had read a headline: “Flu Shot at Aylmer Arena”.  He believed lawlessness had come to town. It didn’t help when his parents, having just moved to town recently, phoned and announced ‘their nerves were shot”.  Well he hung up, put a pot on his head, and stuffed a towel under the front door – he thought he was next.
