“CHRISTMAS IN AYLMER 100 YEARS AGO”  =        “DECEMBER ,  1909”

-The Brown House hotel at the southeast corner of Talbot/John was just  painted a bright red.

-The board of Canadian Canners met in Aylmer under the leadership of David Marshall to finalize the takeover of the Aylmer Condensed Milk Company (later sold to Carnation).

-The main ads in the Aylmer Express were from the stores of Youell and Wrong, Three Farthings, and Christie and Caron.

-The town has decided to invest in a new power plant to replace the one  destroyed by the October explosion. Thomas Wooster is the builder and the 100-foot chimney for the plant is up by Christmas.

-The Brandon Shoe Factory, also destroyed by the explosion, is moving to Brantford but another shoe company is negotiating to build in Aylmer.
