“AMISH OMAR EICHER STILL IN HOSPITAL FROM ACCIDENT”

An Aylmer Amish spokesman said that Omar Eicher, 61, a former longtime resident of the Aylmer Amish community, was suffering severe paralysis and remains in hospital in Sudbury from his buggy-vehicle accident two weeks ago near Powassan, Ontario. Eicher was hit from behind by a car while travelling alone in his buggy  – his horse was killed.  Mr. Eicher worked in construction in the Aylmer area and moved a few years ago to a  small  Powassan area Amish community  that was started by the St. Marys Amish in 2001.  He still has several brothers and sisters in the Aylmer vicinity. There were no charges laid in the accident.
