Butch Clare of Burford and two numbered companies were caught buying cattle worth $1.35 million- some 2156 head of cattle were involved – without a licence to do so, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of Ontario. They were fined $5000 each plus an undisclosed surcharge. In 2007 Clare’s Aylmer Meat Products was fined $125,000 fpr selling meat unfit for human consumption and the operation was shut down.
