“IMPERIAL TOBACCO PLANT SALE INVOLVES LOCAL BUYERS!”
Aylmer – A spokeperson close to negotiations confirmed to AylmerNews today that the Imperial Tobacco plant, mostly vacant for a few years, has been sold to a group of seven partners, including two from Aylmer. The formal announcement is to occur within three weeks. The buyers include area businessmen and investors as well as two from Manitoba. All holdings of Imperial Tobacco, property and buildings, are included in the deal. The spokeperson indicated that Imperial was considering demolishing the buildings at the end of this year if they could not find a buyer. One purchaser plans to set up production of metal grain bins hopefully to be operating in early fall.
