“EESS GIRLS LOSE HOCKEY FINALS;   STILL ADVANCE TO WOSSA”

Aylmer – St.Joes withstood a strong  EESS power play in the final minutes and then added an empty net goal to post a 3-0 victory in the second game of the two-game Tri-County Girls Hockey finals yesterday here. The win sealed the title for StJoes as the teams battled to a 3-3 draw in game one on Monday. East Elgin still qualifies for WOSSA hockey, slated for March 10 in Stratford.

“WORLD JR CURLING STARTS SATURDAY FOR AYLMER’S CRAIG VANYMEREN”

Aylmer – Judy VanYmeren reports that her son Craig left Tuesday as part of Canada’s team at the World Junior Mens Curling Championships, March 6-14 in Flim Switzerland. Judy and Pete will join leave today to watch the proceedings. Both junior mens and womens matches are being held – there are 10 teams in each. Canada will face Finland in their only game Saturday.
